The final 4K ProRes rendered file came out at 6 minutes, 40 seconds and 80.71 GB. With DaVinci Resolve, we cannot find where the project files are and where all the space has been allocated. After we complete projects, we archive the project files so that our local SSD remains open.

We are used to this, having worked with other video and audio editors that require significant disk space. While the project was being worked on and rendered, a total of more than 200 GB was consumed on our hard disk. In our render settings in DaVinci Resolve, we wanted to see what an uncompressed version of the project would look like, so we set the Project Master Settings to 4K (3860 x 2160) and the Render Settings to Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 3860 x 2160 at 60 fps to match our source. We only edited this one source video with its audio and added a single JPG image for a 5-second title. One question we have regarding a rather alarming side-effect of completing our first project is where DaVinci Resolve is storing files necessary for the project? During the course of the project, about 200 GB disappeared and we need to archive the project files to conserve open space on our internal SSD.ĭetails on the project: our one source video (with audio) was shot on an iPhone 12 Pro in 4K at 60 fps for 7 minutes, with a total file size of 5.57 GB. Coming from Final Cut Pro and really grateful for the transition. We've just completed our first DaVinci Resolve project! It was a real treat working with DaVinci Resolve - thank you to all the developers, community and the broader Blackmagic Design Organization for sharing such a beautiful app with the world.
